Valuable read for many ages.

This is the story of a friendship between a little boy and a personified tree. It tells of the tree's life in stages, as it intersects with the child's life from the the time of the little boy's childhood, all through till their both very old.

While the little boy is selfish, always taking from the tree as he grows up, the tree never is resentful or unkind. It continues to give, finding joy in being able to make the boy happy.

Spiritual Content

Branches are chopped off. The tree is chopped down. Neither is shown actually being done, and the tree offered to let the boy do this in the first place.

Drug and Alcohol Content

Sexual Content

A boy and a girl sit beside each other under the tree. Only their feet show.

Crude or Profane Language or Content

Even though there are not many words and the picture take up most of the page, this story really speaks volumes about giving, even when you receive nothing in return.
