Missing Grace

A surprisingly good, entertaining read.

Plot

Kit Kittredge's dog, Grace, is a celebrity after Kit's article about her heroic deed the other week. With all the strangers fawning over Grace, Kit is clueless when her beloved dog disappears. Desperate to bring Grace home, Kit follows every possible opportunity to find her.

Morality

Kit and her friends are concerned about Grace. Though they are eager to search for her, they attend to their chores first without being told. Kit also helps a couple people get out of a mess they're in. Kit has an idea to steal back her dog. She also rationalizes someone's instructions.

Spiritual Content

At one point, Kit is "hoping and praying", though it's unlikely that she's really praying as a believer.

Violence

A dog's leash is yanked multiple times, but it does no damage.

Drug and Alcohol Content

None.

Sexual Content

None.

Crude or Profane Language or Content

One person exclaims "Lord-a-mercy!"

Conclusion

Surprisingly better than I'd first imagined. This has almost Nancy Drew-style intrigue and action (though toned down compared to Nancy Drew). Kit weighs the clues well and thinks through them thoroughly. Kit's sense of justice and her friends' willingness to aid her search are commendable.
